G2 2015...Roadtrip#56
G2 56 Roadtrip...June 25 to July 11 2015
Headed off to ride the back roads of North Eastern America, to see some cool stuff.
Started the trip with a short ride to Sanford. Fl. and caught the auto train to Washington DC.
Met some fellow riders on the Internet that were having a get together in behalf of the Honda VTX model motorcycle.
I decided to stop by, and spent 24 hours in Virginia with them.
They fed me & let me pitch a tent in their backyard.
I came as a stranger, and left as a friend.
After I left Virginia, it started to rain.
And rain it did. Everyday for 5 days. Day & night.
But, it was OK.
Nice and cool and I still saw so many beautiful roads of the American countryside.
Made my way north to Bradford, PA to visit the Zippo museum & meet Mollie.
Camped in the Allegheny mountains, and then made my route to an eastern direction through New York state.
I saw so many beautiful old farm houses & barns, and enjoyed riding the mountains.
One of the many highlights was the auto road up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire.
It is a private narrow road to the top. The trip was very exciting. The weather was sunny at the bottom.
I rode into a cloud as I made the 6 thousand foot climb.
Once I got to the top, it cleared up and it was a beautiful scene to see.
After that, I rode through Vermont to Maine, and to my 48 hour stay in Acadia National Park. Had a great camp site in Blackwoods campground. Spent the next 48 hours riding around Mount Desert Island and taking a few photos. Temps were 50s at night 80s in the day. Couldn't be nicer weather.
Nice riding through Long Island and a short detour (wrong turn) through New York city.
Then the Outter Banks of North Carolina and several ferry rides, bridges, and tunnels. (fun travels)
After that, I put my head down, and got busy riding home.
It was a three day trip to home, starting with small roads and then to I-95 on the last day to be home with the family.
17 Days on the Road :0)
Traveled a total of 5000 miles.
Rode 4000
Train 800
Ferries100
All 17 in my tent, and 80% of it was two lane small roads.
Micky D's for breakfast.
Canned food for lunch & dinner, and an occasional restaurant here & there.
Spent roughly $1000
It was a wonderful trip, with plenty of time for reflection of how I got this far along in my life(without dying) .
Big thanks to all the people that made this trip possible for me.
I left to find myself, and came back more lost than ever.
But after all, it is the trip and not the destination. RIGHT???
